Privacy Policy
Miago helps anyone taking a kid out to eat find restaurants with verified kid-friendly amenities, like high chairs, booster seats and changing stations. We collect only what the app needs to work, and we never collect any information about children.
Our promise about kids
Miago is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we never collect information about children. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
What we collect and why
- Your email address, display name, and how you signed in (Google, Apple or email). Why: to create your account and sign you in.
- Your device location, only when you ask for restaurants near you. If you turn on deals near me, we save an approximate location, rounded to about a mile, so we can tell you about deals within 5 miles. We keep it for up to 7 days and then erase it. Opening the app refreshes it. If you turn the setting off, we erase it right away. When you just use "restaurants near me" to look around, we use your location in the moment and do not save it. To send you alerts, we also save a notification token from your phone. We never collect anything about children.
- Restaurants you save, and any "helpful" or "outdated" feedback you leave. Why: to show your saved places and keep restaurant info accurate.
- For restaurant accounts: business name and contact info, and the updates they submit. Why: to review updates before anything goes live. Nothing is published until we approve it by hand.
- Crash reports and basic device and system info (Sentry). Why: to find and fix bugs.
- Basic usage data, like which screens get used (PostHog). Why: to understand which features people actually use.
What we never collect
- Any information about children
- Profile photos
- Your contacts or address book
- Location or personal data that a feature does not actively need
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers, and we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites.
Who we share data with
We use a few services to run the app: Supabase (stores accounts and restaurant data), Google and Apple (if you choose to sign in with them), Sentry (crash reports) and PostHog (basic usage). They only handle data to provide their service to us.
Maps and outside links
Maps and directions. When you tap "Get directions," we send the restaurant's name and address to the maps app you choose, such as Apple Maps or Google Maps. We do not send that app your location. That app may collect information under its own privacy policy.
Outside websites. When you tap a link to a restaurant's menu or ordering page, you leave Miago. That website's privacy policy applies there.
How long we keep your information
We keep your account information (email, display name, saved restaurants, and feedback) for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, we remove it, along with your saved restaurants and feedback.
Crash reports and basic usage data are kept only as long as we need them to fix problems and understand which parts of the app people use.
Restaurant updates that a restaurant sends us and we approve stay published. They are about the business, not about you.
Where your information is stored
Your account and restaurant information is stored with Supabase, our database service, in the United States (Virginia). Crash reports go to Sentry and basic usage data goes to PostHog. We do not sell your information.
How we keep your information safe
We use trusted services to store your information, and we limit who can see it. Your account information is protected so that only you can see your own saved restaurants and feedback. Restaurant updates are reviewed by a person before anything is published.
No app or website can promise perfect security. If we ever learn that your information was exposed, we will tell you and explain what we are doing about it.
Your choices and requests
You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@getmiago.com from the email address on your account. We will answer within 30 days.
You can delete your account yourself at any time from the Saved tab in the app.
You can turn off location sharing at any time in your phone settings. Miago still works without it, you just will not see restaurants near you.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account any time in the app. Go to the Saved tab and tap "Delete account". This permanently deletes your account, your saved restaurants and your feedback. Anything you submitted that we already approved and published stays on the restaurant's page, but it is no longer linked to you.
If Miago is sold or merges
If Miago is bought, merges with another company, or sells its business, your information may move to the new owner as part of that deal. We will tell you before that happens. The new owner must keep following the promises in this policy, or you will get the chance to delete your account first.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page and tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
